In my capacity as an Associate Editor for 1890, the undergraduate research journal at the University of Central Oklahoma, my principal duty was to evaluate and select my favorite articles for publication. This involved a critical assessment of each submission, focusing on the relevance, originality, and scholarly merit of the content. My role was important in helping curate a collection of varied academic articles, ensuring that the journal consistently showcased all sides of academic research.
As an Associate Editor and Technical Writer for New Plains Review at the University of Central Oklahoma, I provided crucial editorial oversight for articles submitted to the journal. My role entailed meticulously reviewing and refining these submissions to meet the stringent academic and editorial standards. Additionally, I helped develop important technical documents, such as the New Plains Review style guide.
As part of a five-member team, I played a role in the conversion of a comprehensive 75-page resource document from .pdf to .docx format. This was for "A Chance to Change," a mental health institution in Oklahoma. My responsibilities encompassed: adjusting the document spacing, contributing to the development of the style guide, and presenting my contributions to "A Chance to Change."
Completed the first phase of UCO’s Digital Accessibility Coalition for faculty and staff. It offers the learner foundational knowledge of web and document accessibility principles and provides an overview of important web-accessibility concepts, suitable for both technical and non-technical users. As a result of this course, the learner will be able to apply digital accessibility foundational knowledge to everyday.
